Welcome to the Court House Sessions

A series of short video performances by local artists, filmed inside the old Court House on Bangor seafront.

The Sessions showcase this beautiful building before its transformation into a multipurpose venue – and celebrate the wealth of talent we have on our doorstep.

JBR Project

The JBR Project, fronted by multi-instrumentalist Jon McKinley, take their audience on a whistle-stop tour of brass, bleeps, buttons, bass & bangers. They are accompanied here by vocalist Ada Storm along with her reverb-drenched honey vocals and high-energy moves.

He recently recorded his debut solo album in LA which combines the charm of Ireland with the road weary philosophy of alternative American folk.

While still in the early phase of his career, his tracks have been streamed more than a million times on Spotify and other platforms. He performs his latest release ‘Here’ on drums before switching to a live electronic setup for his final two tracks.

Ryan is one of the driving forces behind electronic music in Bangor and Northern Ireland. His distinct productions as Optmst have led to a release on R&S Records and starting his own label ‘Born Sleepy’. In 2019 he started Ayeland, a studio and broadcast facility located at Vault Artist Studios, which recently received support from Future Screens NI and Arts Council NI.

The collaboration has resulted in a distinctive sound involving haunting vocals, piano, guitar and strings. For their Court House Session, they play paired back versions ‘Globe Lights’, inspired by the lights alongside the marina, and ‘Beholding You’ – both taken from their most recent album ‘Ancestor’

Amy Louise Wyatt

& Moyra Donaldson

Amy Louise Wyatt and Moyra Donaldson are two of Bangor’s most well-known and respected poets. Moyra has won multiple awards throughout a distinguished career, including a Major Artist Award in 2019 and Amy is the founding editor of The Bangor Literary Journal. They chat about family, growing up in Bangor, and writing during Covid, and read from their new publications.

Ken plays two songs for us along with a lovely story about his guitar.

Local producer Brién has a distinct sound, drawing influences from hip hop, soul and dance music. He’s a part of Dublin based Soft Boy Records, and his releases have received attention from the likes of Mr Scruff, Bicep and Groove Armada.

Brién opens up his performance with two unreleased tracks, followed by two from his fantastic DIYVOL1 EP that came out last year.

The Florentinas

Alternative rock band, The Florentinas have garnered a lot of attention since their formation in 2019. The Bangor band caught the attention of Gary Lightbody, joining his development company, Third Bar, and recently signed a major publishing deal with BMG.

The boys blew us away at their recording session, playing two original tracks and chatting with Festival Director Kieran Gilmore. They are definitely a band to keep an eye on.
