“Good, honest-to-God, straight Irish traditional music”
A one-off performance from this unique Providence line-up, featuring five outstanding Irish traditional musicians from Counties Clare, Dublin and Meath – namely Michelle O’Brien, Paul Doyle, Micheál Ó Raghallaigh, Troy Bannon and Cyril O’Donoghue. Together they weave fiddle, flute, concertina, acoustic guitar, bouzouki and vocals into a bright, seamless tapestry of flings, jigs, reels, hornpipes and songs in both Irish and English. Their music is as popular among fellow musicians as among the music loving population. In the band’s own words they play “good, honest-to-God, straight traditional music” in the tradition of the Bothy Band and Planxty – and about as well as it can be played.
