Four Men and a Dog are probably the most fun you’ll ever have at a traditional Irish music gig. With five albums and twenty years of notable gigging behind them, their music is as fresh and invigorating as it ever was.
The Dogs are a gathering of stellar traditional Irish musicians who controversially fuse boogie and blues music with the pure drop of the traditional instrumental. The band are Gino Lupari (bodhran, vocals, big heart), Gerry (banjo) O'Connor, Cathal Hayden (fiddle, banjo),
Kevin Doherty (guitar, vocals)
and Dónal “the box” Murphy (accordion) but it's rare to see them together, because individually they ply busy solo careers.
In each of the nine Open House Festivals to date, at least one member of the band has played in one of their various musical guises.
For the finale event of our 10th Anniversary we thought it fitting to bring the lads together. They will be joined for a few tunes by Belfast playwright Marie Jones, who has been learning the button accordion for a new TV music series. Click here for more details
