"Clearly cut from the same cloth as Cordelia's Dad and early Uncle Tupelo - Dyad's approach to traditional American music is sometimes stark, often chilling but absolutely beguiling in its entirety."
DYAD are from Vancouver, Canada, but sound as if they were raised in the Appalachian mountains by generations of Old Time musicians. They play real traditional mountain music with great skill and respect for the music, but bringing the influence of their own eclectic musical tastes, and a few original and contemporary songs included.
The line-up is Leah Abramson (of the Crooked Jades) on guitar, Mark Beaty (of the Be Good Tanyas) on cello and Kori Miyanishi on banjo and fiddle. Their music is full of hypnotic banjo and fiddle tunes, and darkly brooding songs of death, love and loss, with vocals from all three musicians that make your back tingle. Beautiful music.
