John Spillane is one of Ireland’s most compelling singer-songwriters, with four accomplished solo albums to his name, and a new album My Dark Rosaleen and the Island of Dreams just released as we write. He is one half of the Gaelic Hit Factory (Louis de Paor, the poet, being the other half). His songs have been recorded by many fine musicians including Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon, Sean Keane and Karan Casey, among others. John is possessed of a unique voice and is also a thoroughly nice bloke. Which makes all his gigs truly memorable. “Fair play to us!”
An Droichead is a multi award-winning Irish language and cultural arts centre, which runs classes in traditional arts, language and culture, and regular gigs featuring some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians.
