"The Wilders are unstoppable. When a band generates this kind of juice without plugging in, they can set up anywhere and incite a crowd to riot. These cats throw down, hard." Puremusic.com

The Wilders are a ‘Hillbilly Hurricane’ from Kansas City, who play a storming concoction of honky-tonk, country and bluegrass, but with their foot firmly glued to the accelerator. Music so hot and fast it leaves vapour trails. For the last two years the band have sold out a week long run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the Spiegletent – by the time they get to Open House they’ll have recently made that a hat trick.

Singer, guitarist and wisecracker Ike Sheldon heads up the band; hard driving old time tunes come from multi-award-winning fiddler Betse Ellis, walking slap bass lines from Nate Gawron, and slippery dobro, chugging clawhammer banjo and chunky mandolin from jack-of-all-trades Phil Wade.

Prison Love

"Prison Love trade in high octane bluegrass with just the right tincture of trouser-hitchin' country. Their sizzling songs set the bar high from the get-go." Siobhan Long, Irish Times

Self-styled inmates of the Bluegrass Correctional Facility, this irreverent seven piece from Dublin are guaranteed to get even the most committed wallflowers dancing. They come complete with prison uniforms, washboard, fiddles, banjo, squeeze box, flat pickin’ guitar and vocal harmonies, and a selection of punky Bluegrass, Old-Timey, Gospel and Cajun tunes that sound like a fast train a comin’.
