Open House has teamed up with leading independent Americana label, Loose Records, and London-based promoters, Not the Same Old Blues Crap, to bring their legendary club night of hard rockin', primal blues mayhem to Belfast. They are the main force behind the current punk blues scene sweeping the UK, hosting the likes of T-Model Ford, Soledad Brothers, The Black Diamond Heavies and Heavy Trash. Belfast says, bring it on.

BOB LOG III is a trash-blues one-man band from Tucson, Arizona, who’s fast reaching cult status. Don’t be fooled by the lycra suit, the motorcycle helmet with the built-in microphone, and the fact that women sometimes strip and sit on his knee while he’s playing. Bob is a formidable slide guitarist – he was taught by the Mississippi blues legend RL Burnside, has toured with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and is now signed to Fat Possum Records. His songs are hard and fast. And while he sings and plays guitar he controls two drum machines with his feet, while kicking hell out of a bass drum and a symbol. He says: “I’ve monitored my legs and on a fast song I go damn near half a mile.”

THE BONNEVILLES When this garage punk blues duo from Lurgan rocked the John Hewitt at last year’s Open House, we felt morally obliged to bring them back for more. The band features Andrew McGibbon Junior on guitar and vocals, and Chris McMullen on drums. They have just released their brilliant first album, Good Suits and Fightin’ Boots on Motor Sounds Records, which starts with a public service announcement for Brylcreem and includes the wonderful Lurgan Hardtale Blues.

David Holmes is one of the few DJs to become a household name, and is as well known for his film soundtracks as for his dancefloor mixes. His achievements are many and impressive, and include the soundtrack for Stephen Soderberg’s Ocean’s Eleven film. Tonight he will be rustling up the dirtiest, grooviest, funked up punk rock blues til am.
