ABOUT OPEN HOUSE FESTIVAL
Open House Festival was the first festival to take place in the arts and cultural flavoured Cathedral Quarter. It started in the Autumn of 1999 and was affectionately dubbed, by a leading BBC journalist, the "two pubs and a Cathedral" festival. On account of a lot of hard work over eight enjoyable years Open House has grown into a "grass roots festival with international appeal".
In 2005 Alison Gordon joined on a full-time basis as Festival Manager thus making the number of staff a grand total of two ! It is safe to say that Open House works on a shoestring budget to bring you a top notch line-up each year. No fancy offices or refurbished city centre "spaces" in the Cathedral Quarter for us - or even Core Funding for that matter. We can't afford to rent any place, just a humble back bedroom and the one crackling phone line. But hey, adversity - we react well to it - and prefer to put all the contents of our lil 'ol begging bowl into the music itself.
We hope this year's line up brings you something a little different and with a bit of humour. Please use the guestbook and let us know what you liked. Let us know what you didn't like as well.
