Songs From The Mountain with Tim O'Brien

Our Artist-in-residence, Tim O'Brien, will lead you on an exploration of the songs and singing styles of American old time and bluegrass music. Advanced Flute and Whistles with Brian Finnegan
Saturday 29th September, 11am – 1pm // £10
After the huge success of Brian’s masterclass two years ago we decided to invite him back for more. Brian is a native of Armagh, and a founding member of the hugely successful band Flook. He is recognised as a virtuoso player of many types of flute and whistles, and has received much critical acclaim. He has toured and travelled extensively throughout Europe and America, absorbing into his style much of the music learned on his travels.
Advanced guitar accompaniment with John Doyle
Saturday 29th September, 2–4pm // £10
John Doyle is the preferred accompanist for Liz Carroll and one of the busiest musicians in Irish music. He started touring at the age of 16, and was a founder member of Irish-American supergroup Solas. He is renowed for his powerhouse, rhythmic guitar style. If you want to add both panache and umph to your guitar playing, this is the ticket.
Advanced Fiddle with Liz Carroll
Sunday 30th September, 1.30–3.30pm // £20
Liz Carroll is recognised as one of the most talented and influential female fiddle players of her generation. Born in Chicago, she has won virtually every possible award for playing Irish traditional music, and has captivated critics and audiences alike on both sides of the Atlantic. This masterclass will be a rare treat for fiddle players of an advanced standard.

Recycled Songwriting with Tim O'Brien
Sunday 30th September, 4.30–6pm // £10
This masterclass does exactly what it says on the tin. Tim O'Brien will share his trade secrets and help you take traditional songs and update them for a contemporary audience.
