Crooked Still, the hot young alternative bluegrass group from Boston, are coming back after two sell out shows at Open House last year. Theirs is an unlikely combination of banjo, cello and double bass. Aoife O’Donovan's refined, sultry vocals float over Greg Liszt's four-finger banjo rolls and Corey DiMario’s pulsing bass lines. Rushad Eggleston is one in a million with his virtuoso cello playing, not to mention his flamboyant dress sense. The resulting acoustic fusion is sweet and jazzy without sacrificing its mountain soul. Tonight is also Rushad’s 28th birthday. Last year, in true Belfast style, he was bought a bottle of Buckfast. How can we top that?
“Crooked Still manages to amp up its ancient American tunes in unplugged yet groove-crazed ways.” Boston Herald

The Duhks
[The Duhks: pronounced as in Daffy or Donald]
This young five-piece Canadian roots phenomenon have released three major albums in four years, and been nominated for a pile of music awards including a Grammy. This is not surprising, given their eclectic musical sound, honey sweet vocals and pop sensibilities. Soul, gospel and Brazilian samba mashed-up with old time country and bits of Zydeco. The music goes from hauntingly beautiful to mosh-pit danceable.
