WE Prison Love. The seven self-styled Inmates of the Bluegrass Correctional Facility come complete with prison uniforms, washboard and a selection of punky Bluegrass, Old-Timey, gospel and Cajun tunes that sound like a fast train a comin’. Both their CDs to date ‘This Corn is Awesome’ and ‘Smell the Love’ are as good as their titles. This is only Prison Love’s second visit to Belfast but already they have a cult following. Can you smell the love already?

Line-up:
Will N Dowd - Steel-string Guitar, 5-String Banjo
Soapy Mahoney - Lead Vocals, Washboard, Kazoo
Ex-Kon - Double-Bass
European Sue – Fiddle
Dancin' Pete (The Repeat Offender) - Squeezy Box
El Nino - Mandolin, Tenor Banjo, Steel-string Guitar
Hurricane Barry - Tenor Vocals, Harmonica, Washboard

Choral Sex are a five piece (three guys, two gals) acapella gospel group with a bad-ass attitude and a great sense of humour. Surprisingly they can also sing. If you want to find out more about either of these bands, we suggest you use their website addresses listed below. Typing ‘Choral Sex’ or ‘Prison Love’ into an internet search engine may throw up some unexpected results.

Joe Cushley presents Balling the Jack on London's Resonance 104.4 FM (www.resonancefm.com) every Tuesday at noon. The show collides blues 'n' roots music with punk, dance, art-rock and indie, and watches the sparks fly. He DJs regularly for the Big Chill and at Not The Same Old Blues Crap nights.
