DERMOT BYRNE,
DEZI DONNELLY &
STEVE COONEY (IRL/AUS)
+
UNWANTED (IRL/USA)
Thursday 28th September
The Black Box
Doors 8pm Starts 8.30pm £10
Dermot Byrne (Altan accordion virtuoso) and Dezi Donnelly (Manchester fiddle impresario) may need no introduction, being two of the finest musicians in Irish traditional music today. But their coming together as a duo is a rare and magical thing. This is their first ever gig together in Belfast and we’re delighted to have them. They will be joined by special guest Steve Cooney on guitar accompaniment.
And here’s another lovely little surprise for you, our discerning audience… Unwanted are a brand new band featuring three more fantastic performers, with a beautifully mixed bag of songs and tunes from ‘the Atlantic Fringe’. Cathy Jordan, the renowned singer with Dervish, leads on vocals with bodhran accompaniment. Séamie O Dowd plays guitar, fiddle and harmonica, and is a remarkably fine singer. Rick Epping has lived and played between Ireland and the USA for 35 years, exploring their musical traditions with such greats as Joe Cooley and Bill Munroe. Rick plays harmonica, concertina, banjo and jaw harp. |
