Alan Kelly’s debut album ‘Out of the Blue’ exploded onto the traditional music scene in 1996 with such impact that he is generally credited with ‘making the piano accordion hip again’ in Irish traditional music. In the 10 years since his debut, Alan has recorded and played all over the world with the likes of Alison Brown, Eddi Reader, Michael McGoldrick and De Danaan. He has released two further albums, the brilliant fusion that was Mosiac and the beautifully forthright and traditional Fourmilehouse with his brother, John. Tonight’s concert will echo the spirit of Fourmilehouse, as he is joined by three great traditional players – Tola Custy on fiddle, his brother John Kelly on flute and Arty McGlynn on guitar.
“Alan Kelly can convert even the most wary listener into a rabid, slavering maniac for the piano accordion. Trust me. Alan doesn't just play the accordion, he celebrates it in a way that draws you into the passion he puts into the music he plays.” Cindy Reich, Celtic Connections
“brilliantly talented, effortless and exuberant” Fintan Vallely, Irish Times
“an obvious cure for clinical depression, and a lot cheaper than valium” Siobhan Long, Irish Times
