7.30pm FILM: THE RALPH STANLEY STORY
Directed by Herb E Smith (2000), 82 mins
The Ralph Stanley sound is true Old-Time, mountain style Bluegrass music. This film tells Ralph’s story through interviews with Ralph himself, fellow musicians and those who know him best. Man of Constant Sorrow Rank Stranger, White Dove, Pretty Polly and over twenty other songs help tell the story.

Ralph performs with Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, the Clinch Mountain Boys, Patty Loveless. Junior Brown and many others in this illuminating music film. Film-maker, Herb E Smith has been making award-winning documentary films about people in the Appalachian mountains for over 35 years.

“The Ralph Stanley Story presents Stanley and his music in it’s true spiritual, emotional and cultural context and celebrates him as a true American music original.” Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine
